About My Blog

There’s a new diet or way of living that has been introduced recently. It’s called The 100 by Jorge Cruise; follow his plan and you can lose up to 18 lbs. in 2 weeks. To follow his diet plan you should consume no more than 100 sugar calories a day to lose weight. But if you're wanting to maintain your weight then consume no more than 300 sugar calories. Sugar calories are the total carbs multiplied by 4. Jorge provides a variety of foods with and without sugar calories ("freebie" list). The freebie list means that you can eat as much as you want of that food, but still in moderation. Sounds easy, right. Well, this new way of eating has been a challenge.  I have to be creative when it comes to making meals that doesn't consist of  “bad” carbs.  But according to Jorge you can eat some "bad" carbs, just limit how much you eat.  Have you looked at the total carbs in chips… one serving and your sugar calories are done for the day.  I figured it’s best to eliminate all the bad foods. Throw them out and start fresh. Which is what we did. It's very easy to go over 100 sugar calories. It's very important to make sure and keep track of your sugar intake.

I love to bake! I would either fix muffins, cupcakes or cookies on a daily basis. Since we started eating healthy my family’s life has been flipped completely upside down;  no flour, no bread, no pasta, no sugar and no homemade desserts.  I can still bake, because Jorge recommends to start using almond flour or coconut flour instead of all purpose/wheat flour for baking. And instead of table sugar he recommends Stevia. That's great news... And that’s why I started this blog, to share my dessert ideas. And to share something tantalizing for dinner.

My alternate for sugar is Organic Coconut Palm Sugar. It has the same total carbs as regular sugar however there are nutrients in the coconut sugar and the Glycemic Index is only 35. I'm also using Stevia in the Raw.

Since we started eating “healthy”, my husband  has lost 10 lbs. and I have lost 7 lbs. within a weeks time. I’m feeling more energetic, more motivated, and I’m ready to start the day by 6 am. I never imagined that I would be a morning person. I've always slept in and I felt groggy midday. My husband is loving the new routine as well… however not having the chips or crackers is starting to get to him.

I've also done some research on Glycemic Index, Glycemic Load and Inflammation Factor. Which is very important! Later I plan to add pages regarding those subjects.

Thank You for stopping by my page. I hope you enjoy the meals and desserts that I have provided.
